When it comes down to people, neighborhoods, and communities, the NYC government seems to care very little. otherwise the condition, accessibilty and general awareness and consciousness concerning the environmental conditions on Staten Island's North Shore would be much greater.
All levels of government have started to talk about a new green economy but a green economy has more to it than electric cars, wind farms, and solar energy. For a true green economy to flourish we must stop polluting our biosphere and begin wide reaching recycling and clean-up campaigns so that we can enjoy our waterfront, our forests and other natural areas without having to worry that they are contaminated and are fenced off and locked for OUR own safety AFTER they have used irrsponsibly and polluted beyond the imagination.
We need to wake up as a society and hold our government accountable and demand that these toxic sites are remediated and that this is never allowed to happen again!
